Your Role
If you're looking for new challenges and adventure outside the everyday, then the Army Reserve has an exciting opportunity for you.
In a part-time combat and security role, you'll be in the thick of the action. You'll get paid to train with advanced military equipment and weaponry, and learn combat tactics while keeping fit and working as part of a close-knit team.
The Army Reserve has a range of part-time combat and security roles available that offer a flexible time commitment. With no requirement for you to move away from home, there is a wealth of opportunity on your doorstep.
You could be driving formidable armoured and combat reconnaissance vehicles as an Armoured Vehicle Crew member, or handling advanced weaponry and learning survival tactics as an Infantry Soldier. You could also work as an Artillery Light Gunner setting up, loading and firing mortars, or assisting in the construction of temporary roads, bypasses and fords as a Combat Engineer.
No matter your chosen role, a part-time combat and security position in the Army Reserve is an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and learn new skills, while making life-long friendships along the way. All you have to give is from as little as one night a week, one weekend a month or a few weeks a year and you'll get a world of experiences back.
Get Paid
The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax, and it increases as you gain seniority and experience.
On completion of your initial military and employment training, you could earn a minimum of $180/day tax-free, depending on your chosen role.
Additional amounts are paid for time spent on exercises and deployments.
Life in the Army Reserve
Thousands of men and women enjoy part-time roles with the Army Reserve, operating alongside full-time Army personnel. The only difference is that your commitment is flexible.
Initial training length will vary based on your chosen role, after which you will normally be expected to serve between 20 and 100 days per year. This could involve one night a week, one weekend a month or a few weeks a year.
We do our best to make sure this fits in with your work and family commitments; and deployments are voluntary so if you choose to stay local, there are plenty of ways to make a difference closer to home. And with no minimum period of service, you can leave the Army Reserve whenever you like.
