Your role:

As Warehouse Storeperson (known in the Navy as Maritime Logistics Supply Chain), you'll specialise in inventory and warehouse management. You'll make sure supplies, equipment, spares and provisions get to where they need to go—effectively keeping the Navy running. You'll work as part of a tight-knit team on major fleet units at sea and inshore establishments across the country.

Some days you could be providing essential equipment to help keep a task group of Defence assets operating, while other days you could assist communities in need through the delivery of critical stores for humanitarian aid or disaster relief operations. No matter what the task at hand, this is an important and highly rewarding role.

You'll work as part of a tight-knit team on Navy ships and onshore locations across the country. Your main job will involve taking responsibility and control of all warehouse items. This includes requisitioning, purchasing, issuing, supplying, storing, stocktaking and more. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Issuing equipment
  • Maintaining stock control
  • Storing (packaging) and issuing (dispatch)
  • Preserving and stowing items
  • Clerical tasks, including data entry
  • Storeroom duties, including security and delivery
  • Financial accounting of inventory
  • Purchasing products
  • Handling, storing and distributing dangerous goods
  • Driving forklifts

In addition to your core duties, you'll also be involved in tasks that affect the operation of the whole ship. These may include being part of the medical emergency team, first response team for incidents or assisting in boat and aviation operations that happen at sea, all of which provides great variety day today.

Prior experience isn't needed for this role. You'll gain all the necessary skills and qualifications to become a Warehouse Storeperson as part of your paid training.

Salary:

Be paid to train and learn the skills required to become a qualified Warehouse Storeperson. Upon completion of your initial military and initial employment training, you'll enjoy a competitive starting salary package of up to $69,660 including service and uniform allowances, as well as a Maritime Allowance while serving at sea.

In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies and free medical and dental care.
