Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
The office frequently displays its strong commitment to diversity with numerous events, promotions, the frequency of people going on and returning from maternity/paternity leave.

The anao is quite diverse. there are good representation of gender and race. a network of diversity contact officers promotes the importance of diversity at the anao, including supporting lgbtq+ communities. there are affirmative recruitment pathways for indigenous applicants.

Haven't seen any issues personally. not aware of any discrimination or bigotry occurring here.

Anao does this well however caution needs to be taken to promote a culture of genuine acceptance and diversity, rather than having annual events/speeches to "tick a box" in terms of demonstrating diversity.

Diversity is respected within my office, with many morning teas to support particular diversities. in addition, we have diversity contact officers across the anao.

Gender diversity seems to be the prominent issue. i am very disappointed with the lack of attention to the other types of diversity. with regard to gender equality the office is very flexible and encourages diversity.

I believe we exceed all expectations from a diversity point of view. we have more females in the office then we do men, and our leadership levels are predominantly female.

Workplace has made sure that i can work flexible hours so that i can fulfil my parenting duties. special events were organized for international women's day and naidoc week. currently in the process of recruiting specific indigenous graduates.

There is a good culture for minorities at the company and there are good policies in place to look after everyone.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
There are affirmative recruitment pathways for indigenous applicants. apart from this, i am not aware of particular efforts to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds.
Midlevel, Canberra - 28 Oct 2021
We are not able to accommodate much for less privileged applicants. regardless of social privilege, there is a certain level of education or work experience required that is likely to exclude many less privileged applicants.
