Diversity slowly increasing. good in terms of gender and lgbt. ethnically not so diverse

Of the 10 graduates hired there are 5 men and 5 women. we represent a variety of religions and some of us are lgbtqia+ however, there are still apparent inequalities for women, especially with maternity leave entitlements and the like. ansto is working very hard on this, and discussions about it are openly being had. for the lgbtqia+ community, ansto is working to try to create a better and inclusive environment (the is a club, and an ally network) , although it does feel that this is secondary to the gender issue.

They participate in the stem decadal plan to encourage diversity and an allied community which supports lgtbqi+.

We have a prayer room, and many support networks for diverse groups of people. at the moment the employee pool may not be an accurate representation of the community, but the company is committed to changing this.

Ansto's staff hail from a wide range of cultures (australia is a small fish in the nuclear pond, so we have lots of overseas collaborations). parental leave provisions seem thorough, and there is onsite childcare. ansto has an lgbti+ group, but is less active in the indigenous space. there are areas where the gender balance is quite skewed, but it's still better than my university physics department...

The compnay is very focussed on gender diversity, including flexible work hours for parents and so forth. there is a significant movement being made to remove unconcious bias that occurs throughout recruitment and promotion, especially with relation to having families.

Plenty of work, and plenty of important initiatives to support this area, though being a white single straight male with no children, i can't speak to their quality or effectiveness.

Ansto is working very hard to increase diversity through reviews of the recruitment process among other initiatives. this is a common issue all over the stem industries. there are childcare facilities at work.

The graduate program was split 50/50 in terms of gender. there is a strong focus on equity, and all recruitment is transparent with respect to demographics

Childcare centre on site and paid maternity leave. the company is working towards a sage accreditation. as a women i think the company has the right approach, i've never been told "you only got this job because you are a girl" like i was in a previous company.

Not very much. as an interstate applicant, i was supported to travel to the interviews in sydney; however, this wasn't the case for 2019 applicants.

Ansto has a broad range of jobs available within the company. in terms of attracting applicants from less preivileged backgrounds, i'm uncertain what exactly they do. though i understand they advertise all their jobs locally and go to as many various universities as possible.

I am not aware. however, there is a strong focus on meritocracy to ensure no disadvantage in hiring. i am from a poor background but that never entered into the question of my suitability for the role
