What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
Removed bonuses shortly after starting. Pay ok for government but below industry standards
Graduate, Sydney - 01 Aug 2024
Realistically pay is still better than elsewhere in the public sector almost questionably so
Graduate, Sydney - 01 Aug 2024
Good.
Graduate, Sydney - 01 Aug 2024
Pay progression has been surprisingly rewarding, although there are no bonuses. With my background, my current pay is average/slightly below average but this is fine given the work life balance.
Graduate, Sydney - 16 Jul 2024
There are no bonuses in the public sector. Pay is fantastic. I am paid more than I need to do a job I enjoy with great people around me.
Graduate, Sydney - 10 Jul 2024
Extremely competitive graduate salary, with clear pay increases tied to moving off of the graduate program. Company does not pay bonuses, I am content with this approach.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Jul 2024
No longer bonuses. Pay is excellent for junior staff and seniors, but cannot keep up with industry in between. This results in exodus after a few years at the organisation.
Graduate, Melbourne - 02 Jul 2024
There are no bonuses across the organisation. For graduates, the base pay is high given that this is an entry level job.
Graduate, Melbourne - 01 Jul 2024
Pay is great for a graduate. No Bonus which is ok.
Graduate, Sydney - 01 Jul 2024
no bonus, but we don't get paid that much lower than industry.

Pay is actually great for graduates and those beginning their careers. There is no bonuses.
Graduate, Melbourne - 19 Apr 2022
If starting out as a graduate, the pay is arguably better than industry (especially for the hours worked), and the pay increases are quite substantial. Once outside the graduate program however, pay increases above the baseline increase are dependent on your performance (so you are incentivised to perform). There used to be bonuses at APRA (where maximum would be about 15%), but due to Government direction to all public agencies, there are no more bonuses handed out anymore. But all things considered, I think the 'work hours/effort to pay ratio' is really good at APRA and much, much better compared to industry/private sector.

Bonuses will be removed after 2021. Pay reflects the level and expectation. Promotion and wage growth seems confusing unless sought after.
Midlevel, Sydney - 14 Apr 2022
No bonuses Pay is market level
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Apr 2022
Pay is not the best when compared to industry. However, work life balance is unmatched and this probably justifies the lower salary.
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Apr 2022
Due to recent legislative changes, bonuses are not given on an annual basis. However, there are a range of other benefits. I have been able to travel for work, there has been catered food on special occasions, fruit in the office and no mandate on hybrid working requirements.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Apr 2022
I think pay is pretty competitive for a graduate position
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Apr 2022
No bonuses into the future in line with government recommendation, but pay as a grad is very good, especially when considering the work, flexibility, responsibility, culture, rotations and hours. This may become slightly less relatively competitive after a few years however.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Apr 2022
There are no bonuses. Pay bands for higher ups are large but starting pay low compared to top finance role (for some reason we don't want to strive to compare ourselves to Vanguard portfolio analysts rather we compare ourselves to grad accountants or public service).
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Apr 2022
Recent government mandate on bonuses likely to lead to a mass exodus when final bonus payment made. General remuneration package lower than similar private sector roles. Work/life balance and the quality of work do outweigh this though.

What are your company's best or most unusual perks? For example: free tickets, free dinners, moving expenses, taxis, pension, etc.
Leave policies flexible (half pay leave etc), generous WFH policy (50% can spend at home)
Graduate, Sydney - 01 Aug 2024
High level view of industries/financial system
Graduate, Sydney - 01 Aug 2024
Health/wellbeing check ups.
Graduate, Sydney - 01 Aug 2024
Being able to work very flexibly - I don't think my manager would ever deny my leave or if I had to take a few hours off work spontaneously.
Graduate, Sydney - 16 Jul 2024
Generous leave policies - you can take extended leave unpaid if you want to go travel.
Graduate, Sydney - 10 Jul 2024
Main perks are excellent work-life balance, culture, remuneration and development opportunities.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Jul 2024
Generous leave policies, especially sick leave (unlimited) and parental leave.
Graduate, Melbourne - 02 Jul 2024
If you are located in a different state to Sydney, APRA will pay for you to travel to the main office for training or other team activities. You also get an extra week of leave if you take time off during the new year period.
Graduate, Melbourne - 01 Jul 2024
Extra week of annual leave over the Christmas to new year shut down. This is time off but is not considered annual leave. Also get 1 extra day per year of leave as an APRA day. Overall leave is very flexible.
Graduate, Sydney - 01 Jul 2024
The flexibility and work life balance opportunities afforded to us.
Other (Please specify) - Senior Analyst, Sydney - 01 Jul 2024
Unlimited personal leave
Graduate, Melbourne - 19 Apr 2022
Mid-year and end-of-year parties are great. You do get discounted gym memberships, and can compete in inner-city friendly sport competitions against other companies for a discounted price (along with APRA merch). There is also study allowance and leave, access to industry conferences at discounted rates. The perks may not be as much as what you get in private sector, but people should note that APRA is a public agency and that the benefits are around the work-life balance and culture.
Midlevel, Sydney - 14 Apr 2022
End of Year parties.
Midlevel, Sydney - 14 Apr 2022
1 extra day of leave per year
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Apr 2022
trip paid for when travelling to different offices interstate
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Apr 2022
I think the option to be able to travel. Given Sydney is the biggest office there are plenty of opportunities for graduates to be flown to Sydney for work, which is exciting.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Apr 2022
Very flexible with leave, working arrangements and teams.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Apr 2022
Not really applicable, the public service generally doesn't have a lot of perks
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Apr 2022
Unlimited personal leave (i.e. sickness, compassionate care).
