As an Undergraduate Consultant in our Corporate & International Tax team, you’ll build your technical skills, whilst you complete your studies.  

BDO is one of the world’s leading audit, accounting, advisory[JS1]  and consulting firms. We provide a range of services to clients of all sizes and industries across Australia.   
   
Our Corporate & International Tax team assist clients with their tax compliance obligations (e.g. tax returns, tax provision calculations for financial reporting purposes, and other tax reporting). They provide tax consulting services in the context of business structuring & restructuring, enacted or potential tax law changes and how they impact the clients' tax operations, and any M&A/ divestment/transactional opportunities. We also provide support & guidance to our clients in their disputes with the revenue authorities (ATO, State Revenue Offices, etc.).

What you’ll do:  

As an Undergraduate Consultant you will gain exposure to a wide range of tasks including:

  • Assistance with preparation of tax returns, activity statements and other ATO documents
  • Correspondence with the ATO
  • Attendance at client meetings virtually and in person
  • Assistance with research projects
  • Assistance with preparation of consulting advice 
  • Assistance with the tax component of due diligence procedures

What you’ll offer:

  • You will be studying towards an Accounting, Commerce or Law (double degree preferred) or relevant undergraduate or postgraduate CA/CPA eligible degree

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
