An experience in Tax  

BDO tax professionals have a full range of tax specialisations and deep experience in a wide range of industries.

As a Vacationer, depending on your team within the Tax Team, (corporate and international tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, research and development), you may have the opportunity to:

  • Shadow a wide variety of compliance and consulting work including corporate and international tax
  • Be exposed to client’s transfer pricing enquires and needs
  • Help companies navigate their indirect taxes such as FBT and CGT requirements
  • Get involved in supporting client’s innovation requirements through research and development opportunities
  • Assist with M&A transactions and domestic advisory
  • Receive excellent training, mentoring and support.

About You  

To apply for our 2022/2023 Tax Vacationer Program, we welcome students who: 

  • Are currently in their penultimate year (graduating in 2024) and are completing a Dual Degree in Bachelor of Commerce/Accounting/Business/Science and Law
  • Have strong analytical, critical thinking, and organisational skills
  • Enjoy working in a team environment and collaborating with others
  • Demonstrate a motivated approach to continuous learning and development.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
