Current opportunity

We are currently sourcing proactive Communications Coordinators in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney to work within our Clients & Markets team. These positions will be responsible for providing support in managing the communications and marketing related activities and outcomes for the firm.

Your responsibilities for this role will include but not be limited to:

  • Act as a Business Partner to identified areas of the firm by providing communications and marketing advice to leaders and key stakeholders
  • Support other Business Partners with delivery of campaigns and communications activities
  • Create, distribute and report on the firm’s email marketing activities (includes the use of the firm’s email marketing system, CRM, Power BI and video recording)
  • Support the delivery of the firm’s internal communication program, as directed by senior team members
  • Lead the delivery of local Sydney internal communication activities and events, as instructed by senior team members
  • Work to promote the smooth function of the team through the conduct of key operational tasks

To be successful in this role ideally you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations or similar
  • Previous experience within a similar role (within professional services would be beneficial but not essential)
  • The ability to develop rapport at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • High level interpersonal and written communication skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
  • The ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
