Working in the safety engineering space.

I am a mechanical design engineer and spend my time modelling, designing and creating engineering drawings

The work itself is good, but as mentioned earlier as a new employee there isn't enough to keep me busy. Currently my day to dat is going over various company internal web pages and occasionally doing work as my higher ups find things for me to do.

I am still ramping up and learning how to do many tasks but also given a good amount of responsibility to try and push my capabilities.

When I joined the company as an intern, I dont feel as though I was supported much from a work perspective. This was due to not having a security clearance high enough to sit around project members, and no proper on boarding from the project.

My day-to-day responsibilities involve: - Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) development of systems - Requirements development - Writing and editing design descriptions - Research tasks to find and procure suitable hardware for systems underdevelopment

Performing tasks that have been assigned to me by senior engineers in the team

Enjoyable and engaging software development work with modern tech stack and industry relevant tools.

Good communication within the team. Get a good understanding of the problem, and required process to solve the problem. This is usually with the team lead or senior engineer. Left to do the implementation/documentation work myself. No micro-managing, but team is always available if help is required. Required to work with someone in your team to get work reviewed and approved at the end. Often reach out to members of other teams to ask questions.

My role doesn't fit at all into what I've studied but it's a good stepping stone as I find out what I like and don't like in the corporate world.

I have been given some rewarding tasks within the ATS program allowing me to work on the aircraft and the new facility directly that has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the overall project.

I'm part of the governance, policy, integration- engineering security assessments team where I complete defence risk matrices to ensure a proposed change will be compliant with security documentation.

My role has meant I have taken on a lot of responsibility relatively fast with a steep learning curve. However I am grateful for this opportunity and prefer these fast paced environments.

I wouldn't say I have a set, structured list of things I do on a day to day basis as I frequently change projects depending on company need (and my personal development goals) so work is frequently changing.
