Graduate Development Program
The Clean Energy Regulator Graduate Development Program will provide you with the opportunity to develop well-rounded knowledge of the work of the agency, gain experience in the public sector and develop a deep understanding of Australia’s biggest policy developments.
Participants of the 2022 Graduate Program will experience:
Rotations
During your graduate year, you will work in three areas of our agency. The rotations structure allows us to give our graduates a wide range of experiences. By working across business areas, graduates develop an understanding of the agency’s work in the administration of climate change policies and regulation of carbon and renewable energy markets.
Training and career development
Throughout the program you will be provided with the necessary training and development required to be effective in your role and to provide you with the foundation skills required to launch your APS career. Through participation in the program, graduates will gain relevant knowledge and skills in government administration as well as the expertise required to be an effective technical specialist within the Clean Energy Regulator.
Organisational support
In addition to formal training you will also receive individual support from Buddy’s (former Graduates), Mentors (Executive staff from the Agency) and from the Graduate Coordinator. As a Graduate you will also have the opportunity to be involved in events management for the agency’s social club.

As a graduate, you are exposed to a number of different areas within the agency.
My role involves analysis of data and other information from industrial facilities that emit greenhouse gas emissions.

Government & Public Service
Everything we do is connected to measuring, managing, reducing or offsetting Australia’s carbon emissions.
The people are great to work with, and the work is interesting and engaging.
Knowing that you're playing (a very small) part in tackling climate change is rewarding.
Interesting work that aligns with my personal values.
Positive work culture and team environment. The size of the agency is really great - right in the goldilocks zone. Rewarding and intellectually stimulating work.
The agency administers some of the government's climate change policies, but is less influential in driving the design of those policies in the first place.
