My impression is that diversity is quite good but i don't have any concrete data on this. Cochlear are an equal opportunity employer so my understanding is that this is a focus for recruitment
Intern, Sydney - 02 Dec 2024
There has been awareness spread about diversity initiatives like naodic week, reconciliation events, international women's day, women in stem and so forth. I have not seen many events promoting the lgbtqia+ community here though and would like to see that

The company is extremely committed to diversity
Graduate, Sydney - 16 Aug 2024
Hard to tell policy-wise, but everyone is listened to equally, or based on seniority - being engineering, still more men than women
Graduate, Sydney - 16 Aug 2024
Gender diversity is being championed and actively prioritised in hiring and forming teams. Unsure about other factors
Graduate, Sydney - 15 Aug 2024
I think its pretty good and inclusive
Graduate, Sydney - 15 Aug 2024
I think the commitment to diversity is there, but it needs to be more effective. Some teams have almost no women, and most management tends to be male and white
Graduate, Sydney - 08 May 2024
Diversity is good in certain areas and overall, however when looking at specific teams there is limited gender diversity
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
Seems to be a diverse workplace
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
There is a women in engineering group and many female engineers within the company. Unaware of any hr initiative that supports diversity. Senior management and principal engineers are mostly male

There parental leave policy makes it difficult for men to take the same amount of leave as women. They have 6 months for primary carers and only 6 weeks for secondary carers, however if their partner has taken primary carer leave (even at a different company) they aren't eligible. Given women need to recover and breastfeed after birth it would then mean men are virtually unable to take the primary carer's leave at any time
Graduate, Sydney - 29 Oct 2023
All people are welcomed and acknowledged. The workplace is very inclusive
Graduate, Sydney - 11 Feb 2023
Very respectful workplace and very welcoming. Being engineering, there are more men than women. There is a lot of cultural diversity
Midlevel, Sydney - 02 Oct 2017
No discrimination observed
Midlevel, Sydney - 02 Oct 2017
Adoption, paternity and maternity leave are provided. Achieving a gender balance is not common in engineering, however cochlear has a gender balance that is well above average
Midlevel, Sydney - 16 Feb 2017
The employees are very diverse and work life balance changes are well accommodated
Midlevel - 27 Jan 2017
They do initiatives to encourage women to enter engineering related fields, outside of this i don't really know. I certainly don't know of any discrimination against, but as for actively encouraging diversity i don't know
Midlevel, Sydney - 25 Jan 2017
I have never felt that the company chooses people based on their race/gender etc. Many people go on long maternity leave stints and return to part time positions. Work hours are very flexible and this helps people with families. Managers respect that family and work/life balance is important
