A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant Engineering/Science discipline, with a focus on one or more of the following: data processing, instrumentation development, software testing, engineering operations.
CSIRO acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land, sea and waters, of the areas that we live and work on across Australia. We acknowledge their continuing connection to their culture and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
The SKA Observatory (SKAO) is one observatory with two telescopes โ SKA-Low in Western Australia and SKA-Mid in South Africa. To support this key initiative, CSIRO is expanding the Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) team to include a System Test Engineer.
As the System Test Engineer, you will programme and execute testing activities, and develop software test and observing scripts for the SKA-Low Telescope. As a logical thinker and problem solver, you will play a crucial role in fault finding, root cause analysis and rectification activities and have the opportunity to learn about the components that make up the SKA-Low Telescope. The knowledge you gain will then contribute to the development of the Operational Procedures for the SKA-Low Telescope.
In this key role, you will setup the SKA-Low Telescope for observations during Integration and Verification Events, including the scheduling and running of the observations, gathering data, and running system and diagnostic reports. You will identify any issues from the observations and work collaboratively with AIV team members to resolve them.
The AIV team works closely with the SKA science, engineering and project communities around the world and is as diverse in culture, skills and location as they are. We recruit and support world-class talent that represents the diversity across our society. Our focus is therefore on finding someone who can bring unique talents, experience and perspective to enhance the AIV team knowledge and grow with the team as the project progresses.
The role can be based at any of the CSIRO offices in Perth, Geraldton or Sydney but may involve mutually agreed occasional domestic and international travel to the SKA-Low Construction site, other CSIRO offices and supplier locations.
Tenure: Specified term ending 28 May, 2027 | Full-time or part-time (minimum 0.8 FTE)
