Who are we?

If you havenโ€™t heard of us, then we guarantee youโ€™ve heard of our brands. Diageo Australia is the countryโ€™s leading spirits producer with an enviable portfolio of brands including Australiaโ€™s iconic Bundaberg Rum; global giants such as Johnnie Walker, Gordonโ€™s Gin, Baileys, Smirnoff and Captain Morgan; and our premium Reserve brands such as Tanqueray, Aviation Gin and Don Julio. Cocktail culture is thriving across Australia and our industry is vibrant, fast-paced and trend-leading.

Our brand Bundaberg Rum is an Australian legend, and itโ€™s distilled in the heart of Bundaberg. The brand has become part of the fabric of the town, and the surrounds. Dreamt up by 5 entrepreneurs in the local pub trying to figure out what to do with some extra backstrap molasses created by the townโ€™s sugar refinery to become the celebrated brand it is today, Bundaberg Rum is a drink of choice across Australia, representing the larrikin spirit of its consumers. Our site at Bundaberg not only includes a distillery and manufacturing plant creating global award-winning products but also a world-class Visitor Experience Centre that has been celebrated as a tourism destination in QLD.

What about the role?

Are you ready to take your career global? Do you thrive in an environment that is fast-paced, dynamic and constantly evolving? Are you passionate about a career in local manufacturing? If so, then weโ€™d love to have you in our 2025 Graduate Program!

The Bundaberg Graduate Program will build your knowledge and experience in manufacturing our famous Bundaberg Rum while delivering strategic projects in other key areas of supply that impact our performance and move us closer towards our sustainability objectives.

I am currently focussing on learning the production lines, and starting three projects for the business (to do with waste, implementing a system and quality).

I own a territory and am an account manager for all independent bottle shops, bars, and restaurants in that area (Sydney Northern Beaches). There is a lot of selling, contract negotiation, relationship management, and admin in this role.

Pros and cons of working at Diageo

Pros

  • What is great about my workplace is the people, and that every day is different!

  • They are very flexible, as long as you complete what is required!

  • I have been well looked after and supported in being trained up and coached in new tasks and responsibilities.

  • There are options and opportunities for promotions and career progression, especially for the supply chain side of the business!

  • There are outreach things and groups here.

Cons

    • Sometimes, because there is a lean headcount, there are a lot of tasks and projects, and sometimes you may not be well set up for success.

    • Yes, Huntingwood is not the easiest location (okay if you can drive, but hard to get to by public transport!).

    • Bonuses were confusing, only because it was a formula and seemed complicated in how it was calculated.

    • Maybe more clarity in the different rotations and structures earlier on!

    • Because of a lean headcount, it can be challenging to get sufficient support.
