To help facilitate transitions into our Graduate program, our internship experience is designed for students in their penultimate, or second-to-last year of studies, however, is open to students from earlier years as well.

An internship isn’t just about networking though.  As an undergraduate in GHD, you will be provided with practical, on the job experience within a technical field aligned to your studies and where possible, to your aspirational career path.   

Towards the end of your internship, you’ll participate in our performance & experience review process and if you’re heading into your final year of studies, conversations about an offer to join our graduate program for the following year.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for Engineering & Science of all types, Architecture, and Project Management students to join our program in November 2023 across our Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton and Gladstone offices.  

GHD in North Queensland is well established with some of the largest consultancy offices in our geographic region.  Being supported and coached as part of the team, GHD will help build your technical knowhow, with opportunities to contribute to large scale projects across Australia. With real opportunities to travel within Australia and internationally with GHD, you will be a part of a global, connected, professional network.

Whether you are a penultimate year student, or someone still with a couple of years to go on your course (including those of you who intent to study a Masters degree next year) and have a preference for one or more of these areas, you’ll be able to highlight this in your application.

• Energy (Power Generation & Renewables, Power Transmission & Distribution, Energy Storage, Hydrogen and Natural Gas)
• Environmental (Impact Assessment & Planning, Contaminated Land Assessment & Remediation, Flora & Fauna, Stakeholder Engagement and Sustainability)
• Project Management (Project Management, Contract Administration, Project Controls & Contract Management)
• Transport (Roads & Highways, Pavements, Rail, Bridges, and Road Safety Traffic & Transport Planning)
• Water (Dams, Flood Studies, Hydrology & Stormwater/Surface Water Management, Planning & Design of all aspects of Water and Wastewater conveyance infrastructure, Water Treatment Process Engineering)
• Resources (Asset Transition, Rehabilitation & Closure, Dams & Tailings, Mining Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering)

All our summer internship position commence in late November / early December (depending on your exam timetable) and will run across the summer break in a full time capacity until late February.
