What is ITS?

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) engineering involves leveraging technology and data-driven solutions to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of transportation systems. As an ITS engineer, you'll be at the forefront of designing, developing, and implementing innovative solutions such as traffic management systems, smart mobility platforms, communication networks, and advanced transportation analytics. You'll have the chance to address complex transportation challenges and contribute to enhancing the overall mobility experience.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome final year students or recent graduates with a keen interest in transport and communications. Degrees in various disciplines such as the following are highly valued: Information Technology, Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Civil Engineering and Computer Science.

The Position

As a graduate engineer in our ITS team in Adelaide, South Australia, you'll have the opportunity to:

You will be fully supported by the ITS team in assisting you with these responsibilities.

Requirements:

• Strong academic record with a passion for applying engineering principles to real-world challenges.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. High standard of written and verbal skills to convey technical information effectively and at a professional level.
• A proactive and results-driven attitude, with the willingness to take on new challenges and learn from experienced professionals.
• Organisational skills and attention to detail in project documentation and reporting.
• Must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident eligible to obtain citizenship.

Preferred:

The following knowledge and skills are viewed favourably but are not core requirements:

• Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, VISSIM, SYNCHRO, or similar transportation modelling tools
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply engineering principles to solve complex problems.
• Adaptable and open to learning new technologies and industry trends to stay up to date with best practices.
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.

The Virtual Internship should only take you 3-4 hours to complete   We’re not asking you to undertake complex calculations, but rather understand some of the challenge we work with on a day to day basis.

What does the rest of GHD’s process look like?

Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed by one of our Talent Acquisition team members who manage each of our regions. If your application is shortlisted, we will get in touch with you for a Video Interview, where you’ll get the chance to introduce yourself and make another positive impression on both our TA team and hiring managers.

If you’re successful at our Video Interview stage and are invited for an interview, our team will contact you via email, text or phone to get that scheduled in.  Interviews will either be face to face in our office, or via MS Teams if virtual.  Prior to our interview we’ll also ask you to go through some online testing through one of our providers, Saville.

If the interview goes well, we’ll be in contact to discuss an offer, where we’ll go through salary, start date and our background checks.
