I would prefer to have more significant tasks in which I can see there being a benefit in terms of sustainability, however, the roles asks projects I am currently involved in are fulfilling me.

I work on specific packaging projects on a small and large scale. This includes writing specifications, running trials, project management meetings and data collection

Working in project management alongside experienced project engineers. Getting to be involved in many meetings with various stakeholders and getting a great understanding of all the different aspects of the role.

Pros and cons of working at Mars Australia

Pros

  • Work environment is pleasant where most people come across as being happy to be at work. The ability to learn and grow within the company is also a huge plus as development is encouraged

  • The people, culture and chocolate!! My team are supportive of my learning and development.

  • The people I work with are world class. Truly. Simply by being here you feel like you have the ability to enact change and be imbued with purpose.

  • Fantastic working environment and culture. A lot of people willing and able to support you to learn and share their experiences with you. High level of flexibility in working hours and arrangements.

  • Everyone is very approachable and willing to help you develop. There is also a large emphasis on personal development and providing you with the opportunity to be the driver of your career.

  • Good company culture, effective onboarding, ability to work on site and at home

Cons

    • Large businesses are hard to manage because there are so many people moving in different directions at all times. This means that a lot of time and energy is spent coordinating rather than developing and strategizing. It is not terrible though as this coordination because output on an enormous scale.

    • Was not really eased into the role. Thrown into a project after my first few weeks and was expected to learn the company and it's processes whilst managing a project that was behind schedule.

    • Not many people my age, some disconnect from management

    • Sometimes difficult for people to find time to teach me.
