Application Process & Interviews at Northrop Grumman Australia

1 group interview, no assessments.

My interview process involved a phone screen, a virtual interview with the hiring manager and recruiter, and a second virtual interview with the functional director.

I was initially interviewed for an internship role, and was offered the interview after applying via their job application site. The interview was relaxed and conversational, and beyond the interview there were additional security clearance applications associated with the role. A secondary interview was conducted for my current role, where there was an informal interview initially, then a formal assessed interview afterwards. This was an internal interview, so no further assessments were needed after.

I personally had one face-face interview towards the end of my uni degree. I do remember being concerned the process was taking too long and I may be left without a job if I wasn't successful.

They were good, I had two representatives that were a part of my meeting. With one representing the HR side asking their own questions, as well as the project representative asking theirs. The only part that could be an area of improvement is the transparency with the interviewee, I remember waiting approximately a month after before I received word of where my application had gone.

Mostly behavioural questions. Fairly straightforward and expected type of interview questions.

My interview was values based, where I had to provide STAR examples of how I demonstrated the Northrop Grumman values.

Questions around safety culture, how you manage time, and how you work with other people. There were some technical questions, especially in my second interview, and it was encouraged to be honest if you didn't know.

No specific tips. Fairly normal interview so all regular preparation one might do.

I would recommend completing interview preparation - LinkedIn has some handy tips. Think of some key examples in your career/academic journey that might be suitable in an interview.

Interviewing isn't about repeating what is on your resume, and generally the people interviewing you can see through any persona you might put up to appear more confident, skilled, etc. It's best to be up front and honest, and to ask questions. Also, its a good idea to ask at the end of the interview if there was anything you can do to improve or anything you did well. It shows that you are self aware and are open to constructive criticism.

Relax. We are all human, all with faults, personalities but share a common interest in working for NGA. Think about what you want from NGA, where did you hear about us? What are you hoping to get from NGA?
