More than 780,000 members choose us to deliver peace of mind through our trusted range of motor, home and travel products and services. We’re also one of the state’s largest employers (and growing!), with more than 1000 employees working collectively with the common goal to keep our members moving.

At RAA, we give our graduates the opportunity to start making that difference from day one – to their own future, to RAA’s people and members, and to South Australia, this incredible state we call home.

How do we do this? Through our friendly and supportive culture that offers great work-life balance and makes you feel like you can bring your whole self to work each day. Through our diverse range of roles, across various departments and industries, that allows you to move your career in the right direction. And through incredible learning, training and mentoring programs that empower you to continuously develop and consistently thrive.

So, are you ready to make your next move and launch a rewarding career in a progressive organisation right here in SA?

About the role:

We’re looking for a talented and ambitious graduate to join RAA’s 2022 Data & Digital Graduate Program in February 2022. We are recruiting for Data Graduates who can help us develop meaningful insights and contribute to data governance and data management.

As a Data Graduate, you will work within our Group Research & Analytics department, spending time in our Analytics, Data Engineering and Research teams. You’ll build real-world expertise, while gaining exposure to multiple areas of RAA through rotations in teams such as Digital, Cyber Security and Innovation. And you’ll work closely together and learn from each other as you develop and apply your skills in your field of interest to deliver real outcomes.

RAA’s 18-month Digital Graduate Program provides budding professionals with:

  • Ongoing development, including rotations throughout different business units and our 'Campus to Corporate' Development Program.
  • Regular mentoring sessions with a senior manager to help you grow in the right direction.
  • A competitive salary, plus staff benefits, including free RAA Premium Road Service.
  • Flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
  • A Diversity & Inclusion Program helping you bring your whole self to work.
  • Support and education for your wellbeing and mental health.
  • A central café hub, including an onsite chef and baristas.
  • A permanent position with RAA upon successful completion of the program!

What you need:

  • Completing your final year of undergraduate university study in 2021 or graduated in 2020 with an undergraduate university degree in IT, Computer Science, Maths & Statistics or similar.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to present ideas to different audiences.
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting data to provide insights.
  • Strong customer service ethos with a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good academic understanding of database structured query language (SQL), and coding concepts such as stored procedures.

How to apply:

Follow the prompts to attach your CV and a tailored cover letter (addressed to Jessica Meyer, Talent Acquisition Consultant), outlining the following essential criteria:

  • Your reason for applying for a Data Graduate role in RAA’s Data & Digital Graduate Program. How your values align with RAA’s (check our website).
  • Tell us something that sets you apart from other candidates.

Applications that do not address the above essential criteria will not be considered.

Applications close at 9:00 am on Friday 3rd December 2021.

We’re committed to building a workplace that’s diverse and inclusive, where employees are embraced for their unique qualities and valued for their contributions. We believe a diverse and inclusive workplace brings out the best in everyone and helps us to give our members better service.

Assisting the team i am in with campaign briefs, invoicing, meaningful conversations about what is happening in the organisation.

Day-to-day activities are dependent on the rotations we are in at the time, but in most roles I am able to help the team with BAU activities, with lots of opportunities to own projects or tasks.

Depends on the rotation, but I usually get given a big task that goes on for the duration of the rotation, then several other smaller tasks to handle simultaneously.

Pros and cons of working at RAA

Pros

  • The company culture and how approachable/friendly everyone is. I always have someone to turn to and have support for in anything that I needed.

  • RAA is highly invested in developing its younger employees and gives us ample opportunity to engage with learning and development sessions from a variety of topics.

  • The workplace culture is really great, they really focus on work/life balance and ensure that we work in an approachable, friendly environment.

  • The culture is great, RAA and the graduate program are pretty flexible in terms of allowing days to work from home, and starting/finishing times can be negotiated with the manager.

  • Everyone is extremely welcoming and wants you to do your best, so they are always open to providing feedback and support.

Cons

    • A downside is the graduate salary, for the work we are doing and for our STEM degree backgrounds I do believe it should be higher.

    • The company structure can be a little frustrating at times as information is difficult to collect.

    • Lack of direction/unclear employment progression.

    • There could be a greater commitment to diversity company-wide, especially respecting cultural and orientation diversity.

    • This year was the first time having a different cohort of different grads who have come from different education backgrounds. Which has made a bit of drift between certain groups of grads.
