Services Australia serves everyone and they lead any employer when it comes to diversity.
Graduate, Canberra - 13 Sep 2024
Totally committed to inclusion and diversity, great for working mums, breastfeeding policy.
Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Sep 2024
As I mentioned earlier, there is a huge gap in recruiting multifaith, multicultural and CALD people between the lower and higher level. There are more than 20% CALD people in the lower level but around 10% at the EL levels and 1% at the SES level.
Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Sep 2024
They commit to hiring based on different diverse traits, such as Indigenous or neurodivergent hiring programs.
APS6, Brisbane - 15 Aug 2024
Good commitment but I think they need to make it a nicer process for diverse groups to enter the public service.
Graduate, Hobart - 13 Aug 2024
As a service delivery agency there is a strong emphasis on sensitivity to diversity and minorities as it's very relevant to our work. Mandatory enterprise training that is completed annually has a module dedicated to diversity at work. My senior executive is a LGBTQIA+ senior ally and we frequently celebrate days like IDAHOBIT with themed dress days and morning teas. We often get enterprise-wide communications with spotlighted stories from queer, disabled, parents/carers, women, and Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people within the organisation.
Graduate in 2021, APS6 since April 2022, Canberra - 12 Aug 2024
Very committed.
former graduate. APS employee now, Adelaide - 12 Aug 2024
The agency hires regardless of gender, sexuality and ethnicity.
The agency has a large group of female leaders and workers
Graduate, Bunbury - 07 Aug 2024
I think we need more first nation's representation in the workplace - especially ICT. We are in no way meeting our quotas on this.
Graduate, Adelaide - 07 Aug 2024
Diversity is a big thing and celebrated at my company
Graduate, Melbourne - 07 Aug 2024
They send emails and stuff out encouraging people to join the latest equity group for neurodivergent transgender religious minorities and I honestly reckon that's great.
Graduate, Perth - 17 Jul 2024
The programs are great, they have good intentions. But while these often receive awards, they do not reflect reality. For example, teams only talk about diversity on particular event days.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Jul 2024
Over committed.
Acting APS6 (Substantive APS5), Adelaide - 08 Jul 2024
I'm a white, cis-het man. I've noticed there is a majority of women in my building, and there have been ongoing efforts in the Aurora program recruitment for neurodivergent staff. Seeing the same level of commitment to alternative pathways for Indigenous staff should also be championed.
Graduate, Canberra - 08 Jul 2024
Services Australia wins awards for this category regularly. They regularly recruit with programs for people with disabilities (e.g. Aurora and Recruit for Ability streams for regular employment rounds) and First Nations peoples. Parental leave is generous and will become more generous for secondary carers over the next decade with the newest enterprise agreement.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Jul 2024
We get a lot of emails and my team is very diverse.
APS5, Sydney - 05 Jul 2024
In terms of diversity I would say SA is better than most. Just in my building we have a healthy amount of members from many of the communities listed above. I would say Retention is the biggest issue listed there, we do great at attracting staff, but keeping those staff is a more difficult struggle.
Completed Graduate Degree, Canberra - 04 Jul 2024
It has greatly improved in recent years. Maternity leave entitlements better since new EA has commenced.
Grad and experienced service officer, Toowoomba - 02 Jul 2024
The organisation as a whole is very committed but could do more to ensure this is the case at every level. I am aware of bullying/harassment occurring and discrimination against mothers who work part time (e.g. a manager telling her staff member it was inconvenient).
Graduate, Ballarat - 02 Jul 2024
There is a concerted effort to be strong in this area.
Graduate, Canberra - 28 Jun 2024
