The salary at Shell is modest/decent relative to other companies. You certainly don't join for the pay you join for the opportunities afforded to you with respect to growth (training and career) and travel.

I love the flexi days and volunteer days. My team also lets each of us spend 6x $50 gifts throughout the year to recognize people in our team.
