Sydney Water is excited to announce that our 2024 Internship Program is now open. Gain real hands-on water industry experience while studying at University! 

We are now welcoming applications from Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Construction Management, Data and Analytics students on track to finish their studies in 2025 or 2026.

As Australia’s largest water and wastewater service provider, you can play a key role in Sydneysiders’ continuing enjoyment of this great city and iconic outdoor way of life.

How does our Intern program work?

We understand that your studies are a priority and we all need a work-life balance. Our program is generally designed for 12 months, and for you to work with us 2 or 3 days a week during term time and up to full-time hours during University breaks. 

We have opportunities ranging from working at our Water Resource Recovery plants, Laboratories, Planning, AI and Contracts. 

The locations are varied across various Greater Sydney locations including Parramatta, Potts Hill, West Ryde, Cronulla, Bondi, Camden, Hornsby and North Head.

Please note that some of our locations are not easily accessible by public transport and will require you to have your transport.

About you? 

  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of application
  • You will be currently studying Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Chemistry or Data Science and are on track to finish your studies in 2025 or 2026.
  • You will be curious, innovative ambitious and open to learning new experiences.
  • Have a solid academic transcript with good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Programs
