Your New Role

 Westpac Digitalโ€™s mission is to be the best digital bank in your pocket by focusing on delivering easier, faster, and even more secure digital experiences for our customers to manage their money. We create digital experiences for our customers, delivering solutions and capability to meet their changing banking needs today and in the future.

This is a 12-month program with 3 x 4-month rotations. As a graduate, you will gain experience across all aspects of Westpac Digital. Rotation areas and/or immersions could include digital project delivery, business analysis, change management, product ownership, risk and governance, strategy, eCommerce, customer experience and operations.

What the Digital Graduate Program will offer you?

  • Our program offers extensive learning roadmap in place providing a broad scope of hands-on experience as well as networking events to facilitate connections with our wider Digital business.
  • Be part of a team that delivers leading digital experiences for our customers. From strategy development, digital adoption, sales and service, exceptional product design to experience and risk and compliance.
  • Secure post-program roles across the business; Typically, graduates will secure roles within our delivery teams as business analysts, delivery managers, product owners or change managers.

What youโ€™ll need to succeed

  • A passion for digital experiences, technology, and online banking.
  • Motivation to drive innovative change in the banking industry across multiple digital
  • Curious and loves critical thinking and problem-solving, we welcome graduates from all degree disciplines.

You will also need:

  • To be in in your final year of study of a university degree, or
  • You can have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, but it must be no more than three years ago.
  • You also need to be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident when you apply.

A lot of admin work - booking meetings, writing minutes, making presentation packs, liaising with eas to organise higher-ups attendance. a lot of work is given to you that others in the team would rather not do - the important thing is to have a good attitude regardless of how passionate you are about it as that attitude is what people will talk about when you roll off/apply for internal roles.

Pros

  • Rotating around between teams ensures I am learning lots and meeting heaps of people.

  • Great extracurricular opportunities to be involved in - from employee action groups to Toastmasters clubs.

Cons

    • Sometimes it is difficult to contact/work with departments outside of your area.

    • Because it's so big, it's very slow to move with change and onboarding to systems.

    • Having set days to come into the office. Hard to find a job after graduate program finishes.

    • Too many systems.

    • We are big, old and clunky. This means things can take ages to actually get done, and there can be heaps of red tape.
