If you join the ANZ Graduate Program, it will level up your career. When you accept our offer, you are pressing 'start' on a career that will challenge you and reward you. We help grow curious minds and develop careers for those motivated to make a positive difference for our customers and community.
We're on the hunt for dynamic graduates who love workshopping ideas, are keen to embrace and explore innovation, and have exceptional taste in music (the last bit is optional...) We want people who aren't afraid to speak up, share their opinions, develop relationships and influence outcomes. We're interested in people with diverse backgrounds, who are excited about joining a bank that's reinventing itself to address the complex challenges that society faces today, continuously raise standards in banking, and create opportunities for generations to come.
No matter where your career takes you, our graduate program will provide you with the foundation you need to grow, succeed and take your career to the next level.
If you're ready to learn, we're ready to help you develop a successful career at ANZ. It's an exciting time at ANZ, especially in Technology at ANZ (and in many other parts of the bank) as we adopt our 'New Ways of Working' to transform into a digital bank. We're embracing this change to deliver better outcomes for customers and respond to their feedback much faster by delivering a great customer experience @scale. It's about trusting and investing in our people and empowering them to deliver their best.
Technology underpins every part of our business: from delivering 'always on' core banking systems, protecting customers from cyber criminals, developing new tools, apps and services to improve the customer and/or employee experience, and much, much more.
As a Tech Grad, you'll be rotating through 3 roles in different areas of Technology. We've got a lot of different teams under our Technology division, with a range of different positions available for Grads to get involved in. This will let you explore a wide range of roles and departments at ANZ.
We'll be supporting your rotations with a mix of skills development, regular one-on-one coffee catch-ups and plenty of pizza nights with other graduates. The Tech leaders tend to come to these nights too, so it's great to get their insights. By the end of the program, you'll have comprehensive knowledge of how technology operates within a large corporation.
Here are some areas you might work in:
Cloud Services
Learn the latest cloud technologies like Kubernetes, Istio and serverless on platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Azure. We just created a totally new area dedicated to it, with a plan to move the majority of our platforms there in the coming years. See for yourself how cloud is done safely, securely and at scale.
Technology Operations
See how we keep the critical systems in our bank up and running around the clock? In a rotation in operations, you'll learn how we use monitoring and alerting tools to manage incidents and upgrade systems. Test yourself in constantly changing conditions, build resilience and develop communication skills in high stake situations, as you will often have to work with various teams across ANZ.
Customer Experience
Want to design and build amazing experiences for iOS, Android or the web browser? Come and see how we deliver pixel perfect experiences to our customers whilst making sure our designs are accessible, brand compliant and user-friendly.
And a whole lot more - including working across our platforms to deliver automation and data analytics, supporting the enterprise by delivering great employee experience, business management and infrastructure as a service.
We're looking for people who have a passion for all things technology, understanding the impact technology has on businesses today (and is likely to have on businesses in the future) and are excited by the ways in which technology can shape lives.
We're after big-picture graduates who can use strong technical skills and critical thinking to solve problems in a team environment, or break away from the pack and work on their own. If you have experience from part-time work, university projects, or volunteer work, that's an added bonus.
Diversity of thinking is one of the keys to success, so we encourage students from all degree disciplines to apply for our program.

Our purpose is to shape a world where people & communities thrive. We're focused on the CX & putting them at the heart of everything we do
ANZ has a very collaborative culture. I feel that the staff have a corporate responsibility to nurture and educate their graduates.
Flexible work hours and reasonable expectations.
I got a lot of opportunities to grow my knowledge and skills and was able to leverage industry professionals.
The people are the best part about working at ANZ. Staff genuinely care for and support each other.
The best aspect of working at ANZ is the vast array of opportunities available, the fantastic people I work with, and the inclusive, supportive culture.
The 50% return-to-office mandate introduces punitive measures that significantly impact the flexibility we previously enjoyed.
Technology is a bit behind the market, and processes can be slow.
It can sometimes be a little challenging getting help when first getting started in a role.
There are also issues with too much bureaucracy and over-complication of processes to resolve issues.
We were not allowed to negotiate even if our new managers wanted to. This was all done in fairness, but it really didn’t feel fair.
