Culture at Aurecon Australia

8.6
8.6 rating for Culture, based on 90 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
I believe that Aurecon has fostered a good culture and encourages socialisation between colleagues of the business. The business has put in effort into providing social events that gives everyone the chance to meet up with people from the other parts of the business that we wouldn't normally interact with.

I feel like the culture is great! Everyone is lovely and there are plenty of extra things to get involved with. The hot desking encourages mingling between the levels which I quite like.

A positive for the work culture is how willing senior engineers are to set aside time to teach valuable lessons in related to the discipline. A negative is that the team doesn't feel very interconnected socially, so there isn't much after hours engagement.

People are very kind and friendly and there is definitely a relaxed and diverse culture. I don't feel pressured, stressed or judged coming into work. There's plenty of after work drinks and team dinners to get to know people.

The culture was fantastic, however since the latest restructure and redundancies, there has been a bit of a lacking in the culture and environment of the company. It feels as if everyone is walking on eggshells.

Because it's a big company, there are many graduates each year, which means lots of people to mingle with. They also encourage flexible working and not working outside of your work hours.

I've been here for just over a year and have only come across one instance of workplace bullying, and it did not involve me. It was a difficult situation during a high pressure task, and the two resolved it very well. In the office, it can be calm and it can be exciting. Everyone's up for a chat, there are no stupid questions, you are encouraged to network and get to know the ins and outs of the company. The hierarchy is not at all what I expected out of my first corpo job; people are so cohesive that I'm often in awe upon discovering what levels they are. Even as a grad I feel very much on par with level 5s in terms of social integration and responsibility. Numbers are important for output, but the individual becomes the team. For my grad rotation team, it's much smaller and all online, so I can't compare it much. But they're all lovely people and great at what they do, so no complaints from me! After hours, there are many opportunities to get together and celebrate various things - but not to the point where it's mandatory and people might feel they're missing out. Birthdays, weddings, work anniversaries are all celebrated and the love is shared equally.

Work culture is good. People are friendly. There is not much of a culture of over working. People are kind and patient, especially towards myself as a graduate who is still learning. When things are busy, there isn't as much socialising amongst colleagues, especially not after hours. But there are regular EOM drinks, and social activities put on by the young professionals group.

Team leaders / project managers seem to take a legitimate interest in your learning and increasing your technical capabilities.

We had some team gatherings but seem that enough.

Occasionally, our team has after hour drinks. We try to have monthly lunches, but the turnout is low (~6/30). Some of us already have morning coffee / lunch together anyway. Cooperation / teamwork is really good since everyone is approachable.

Colleagues are professional yet friendly in office, not too involved in after hour activities but some tend to be chatty and some are quiet. Generally nice vibe

Culture is strong at Aurecon, and they do look after their people
Graduate, Melbourne - 02 Sep 2024
We have a very positive and supportive team environment. My team has around 60 people and we mainly communicate at fortnightly team meetings, in the office and our teams group chat. The team chat is used for both work information sharing, in addition to team members often sharing any news, highlights of their day and special moments within their personal lives. All leaders are contactable, approachable and supportive and contribute to the social aspects within the team.

Very good diversity and gender culture

Varies largely between offices, Sydney office affected by redundancies, poor management hires

Aurecon has the best workplace culture I have ever experienced in my 3 years in industry. The word-life balance is superb. I am never judged for WFH whenever I need to or calling in sick when I'm unwell. The community is social, without the drinking culture I've found in other workplaces, and I feel like a valued member of the team.

Socializing amongst colleagues differs for each team, but my team is rather sociable. We have regular team catch ups, eat lunch together, and attend industry events together. There is lots of cooperation and affective teamwork across the hierarchies, with everyone very willing to answer questions and provide help.
