Diversity at Stantec New Zealand

8.5
8.5 rating for Diversity, based on 48 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
I feel like Stantec does a good job at commitment to diversity and inclusion. I think it is nice how there is the REACH group and communication that circulates about diversity and inclusion frequently. It is nice to know the company goes the extra mile to promote this because I think when behaviour supporting diversity and inclusion is seen/encouraged by the leaders within the company it really does trickle down and influence the whole culture. There also seems to be a lot of inspiring women within Stantec doing great things while balancing career and family which is encouraging to see.

we have morning teas for inclusion events but i dont think half of the attendees actually care - they are there for the food but the organizers genuinely care and that shows in a positive way

It feels like a typical company that is trying - I was impressed by the Tiriti training!

We have a very supportive environment in our company in terms of diversity as we have people from every part of the world, we have the freedom to share our culture and sometimes celebrate our festivals among our colleagues. Our company provides generous help during the need for leave for childcare, maternity, or other personal issues, this helps employees to stay positive with the company and appreciate the approach.

Great emphasis and always active inclusion groups i.e Reach@Stantec that organise events to promote diversity and inclusion.

They definitely make a real effort to promote diversity in the workplace and educate the team on awareness.

We have a Reach@Stantec committee that handles most of the diversity and inclusion. Senior leadership are now having a larger involvement with diversity and inclusion. But as a reach rep myself I think they could be doing more and should have been doing more.

They have REACH, which is a group committed to diversity and we always do things for pride, celebrating cultures etc. There could definitely be a few more women around the office. My team has the highest percentage of women by a really long way and it's still only about 37%.

Due to the nature of engineering it is a male dominated sector, however the Dunedin office specifically have many female engineers and technicians.

I think recruitment opportunities and commitment to a diverse workplace are great.

Diversity is encouraged and supported, though there are some remnants of acquisition staff not on board.

Very inclusive, lots of education around these things, but run by the office so its very fluid in the presentations,

Atmosphere seems supportive, especially with younger people. However there does seem to be a bit of a lack in diversity in my local office and my local team. Majority male, majority European, no one is openly LGBT+ (but again I have only been here one month)

There is lots of different leave available. The company also holds regular events to celebrate things like international womens day or similar

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
