As an employee of Stantec, I got the chance to be involved with the various projects and working environments within the company. I experienced that the focus of Stantec was in the areas where it believes that it can have a significant impact by building the leading sustainability consulting practice in the globe. I have realized that Stantec incorporates sustainability into all its service offerings. Furthermore, to incorporate sustainability in the projects and events in which Stantec has direct or indirect involvement it has allowed a Sustainability Toolkit in the company’s SharePoint. This toolkit is designed to provide ideas and guidance on applying a sustainability view to the path it takes to deliver its projects and the way it operates the company. Stantec has been named within the top ten of “Corporate Knights”, 2024 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the world as a global leader in sustainable design and engineering. Stantec being the first company globally to donate the accumulated savings to nonprofit activities or organizations that have a positive influence on environment and climate actions.

Company operations aren't really accounted for too much i.e., flights, how employees get to work, electricity consumption. But there is more of a focus of how we come up with solutions that consider environmental impacts. We have recycling bins in the office though.

They are really good and have a Green@Stantec committee to help spread office suitability

On a large scale Stantec is doing a lot to commit to environmental impact, however on a smaller office scale we definitely could be doing a lot more. We don't have foodscraps bins and we got rid of the plastic free milk bottles for example. Alternative milks are also not allowed to be used in the coffee machine (you can froth it yourself), but that kind of thing is not encouraging sustainability.

Employees are encouraged to take sustainable transport, recently became part of a scheme that helps people purchase a new bike.

Stantec is very visibly actively making an effort to be green.

The company has moderately high goals of reducing its environmental footprint however different things could be included in the office space to further reduce it's impact.
Graduate, Auckland - 02 Nov 2023
Pretty good, however lacking in transport and project specific directives.

The company is trying to decrease the power and water usage. There's also volunteering programmes to plant trees and pick up rubbish.

This is more achieved on the projects delivery and the designs the consultancy produces to be eco friendly
